Why we built Auxtape
Everyone has one person whose music taste they trust more than any algorithm. The friend who makes the playlist for the road trip. The cousin who tells you to skip the single and go straight to track seven. You don't follow them for the songs. You follow them for the order, and the reasons.
That's the part streaming lost. A playlist today is a list. Nobody's voice is in it. Nobody put track four after track three on purpose. You get 200 songs in a mood and no idea who chose them or why.
We grew up on mixtapes. Somebody sat there, hit record, waited for the song, and wrote your name on the spine. That was the most personal thing you could hand another person. We wanted that feeling back, without the cassette.
So we built Auxtape.
A tape is a playlist with a person attached. A curator picks the songs, puts them in order, and can leave a short voice note telling you why. You save the tape, and it lands in your own library as a real playlist, on Apple Music, Tidal, or YouTube Music. You listen where you already listen. Nothing to switch.
It's free to save three tapes a month. Premium is $4.99 and opens every tape, and that money splits between the curators you saved. Or subscribe to one curator you love for $2.99 and get everything they make. Either way, people get paid for taste, not for ads.
There's also one question a day, for everyone. A song that only works at 2am. The best lyricist to ever live. The kind of argument you'd have in the car with the windows down.
If you love music this is for you. If you've ever made a playlist for someone and spent way too long on the order then you're a curator and this is your place. Download Auxtape. Find a tape. Press play. Somebody made it for you.
